It was announced on September 7 that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are Apple’s latest high-end flagship phones which are available alongside the cheaper iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. Its iPhone 14 Pro models are far more feature-rich than the iPhone 14 models, offering improved camera technology, higher display capabilities, a faster A16 processor, and more.
The 6.1 and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro models appear similar to models from the iPhone 13 Pro models with flat edges, a stainless steel enclosure, matte glass back and IP68 water resistance, and a ceramic shield-protected display. However, these camera bumps are wider to accommodate new lenses, and the display has also been changed.
There’s no anymore edge on this TrueDepth camera system. Apple opted to use what they call”the Dynamic Island, ” a cutout in the shape of a pill at the front of the screen that houses camera equipment. It can change shape and size with software depending on the display content.
Apple declares that Dynamic Island will mix the lines between software and hardware. It can change in real-time by displaying notifications, alerts, and even activities that the notch used to be. There’s still some hardware. However, the TrueDepth camera is more miniature in space, and the Dynamic Island blends into the background, taking more benefit from its screen. The Dynamic Island will display the confirmation of payments using Face ID, directions to Maps, music calls, phone numbers, and Live Events like timings, scores for sports, and more. In addition, it can be controlled by using tapping and holding gestures.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have a newly developed Super Retina display called XDR featuring the latest ProMotion technology that permits the use of a constantly-on screen which is the first time on an iPhone. The Always-On display is possible thanks to a brand-new 1Hz-120Hz refresh rate and enhanced power efficiency technology. When the display is on, it will show the widgets, time, and Live activities available throughout the day, and the wallpaper gets dimmed.
Alongside the Always-On and Always-On technology, the iPhone 14 Pro’s Super Retina XDR display offers more excellent brightness at the peak of HDR of around 2000nits, making it comparable to its Pro Display XDR. It is the brightest brightness outside on smartphones, and it is twice more potent than that of the iPhone 13 Pro when in bright conditions.
There’s a new A16 chipset included in iPhone 14 Pro models. iPhone 14 Pro models, and it’s the first time Apple has used different chips in iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro. A16 is A16 was the very first processor to be built using the brand new 4-nanometer process, bringing efficiency and speed enhancements. The A16 comes with a higher-performance CPU that has a 6-core as well as an upgraded five-core GPU with 50 percent more memory bandwidth and an upgraded 16-core Neural Engine that runs 17 trillion operations every second.
Apple introduced a wide camera of 48 megapixels equipped with a four-pixel sensor, which adapts to the picture being taken, and the details of a photo with a resolution of 48 megapixels are reduced to a 12-megapixel image. In most cases, each of the four pixels is combined into a quad pixel to provide even more efficient low-light performance. The lens’s 48-megapixel resolution also allows a two-fold Telephoto function that utilizes all 12 pixels in its middle to create high-quality photos without digital zoom. It is a complement to the existing 3x zoom made possible by an exclusive Telephoto lens that has been upgraded.
The iPhone 14 Pro models can take photos at a maximum of 48 megapixels using ProRAW, which allows the latest iPhones to shoot stunning professional photographs. Sensor-shift image stabilization of the second generation minimizes blur and shake. The new 12-millimeter ultra Wide camera features a larger resolution for better images with more details and an improved zoom mode.
Its TruDepth Front Camera comes with a redesigned f/1.9 aperture that allows for better videos and selfies in low light and includes autofocus for the first time. The adaptive True Tone flash is redesigned and features nine LEDs that change color depending on the lens’s focal length. Features such as Night Mode, Smart HDR 4, Portrait Mode, and Photographic Styles remain.
Apple’s A16 chip runs the Photonic Engine, which enhances the low-light performance across all lenses available in the iPhone 14 Pro models. These Telephoto, Wide, and front-facing TrueDepth cameras provide 2x more low-light performance using The Photonic Engine. At the same time, the Ultra Wide lens supports 3x higher performance in low light. Its Photonic Engine expands on Deep Fusion and delivers outstanding clarity while conserving the subtle textures and delivering enhanced quality of color.
There’s an Action Mode for the video that delivers smooth and beautiful video with more excellent stabilization of images as never before. Action Mode can adjust to substantial shaking, motion, and vibrations even when a video is taken during the action. Cinematic Mode is now improved and available in 4K at 30 frames per second and 24 fps in 4K.
The iPhone 14 Pro models have a dual-core accelerometer that measures 256Gs. The accelerometer and a high-dynamic range Gyroscope are the power source for the crash detection feature that will notify emergency services when you’re in a severe crash and aren’t able to reach your iPhone. Apple utilizes additional sensors to power this feature, meaning that the barometer monitors changes in the cabin pressure, the GPS can monitor changes in speed, and the microphone can detect sounds from car crashes.
Apple also included emergency SOS through satellite, the option that lets iPhone 14 users connect their iPhone 14 directly to satellites for communication in situations where WiFi and cell service aren’t accessible. Emergency SOS through satellite functions in areas of open space with no trees and allows users to text for emergency services. It’s free for two years and operates across the U.S. and Canada. Connectivity to satellites could also be utilized to communicate your place of residence with your family and friends on the Find My when you’re exploring or camping in remote locations.
