Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav dies at 82

Mulayam Singh Yadav, former CM of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav Dies in Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital: On Monday, Mulayam Singh, Samajwadi Party founder passed away while undergoing medical care at Gurugram’s Medanta hospital. He was 82. The SP patriarch’s health had been “extremely serious” for a few weeks and he was getting life-saving treatment. Yadav’s son and party leader Akhilesh tweeted a confirmation of the news of his father’s demise. Akhilesh Yadav tweeted from the party’s official account, “Mere adarniya pitaji aur sabke netaji nahi rahe.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered his friendship with the venerable leader shortly after learning of the the passing of the SP’s founder and tweeted: “Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji was a great personality. He was appreciated by many for being an unassuming, sensible, and sympathetic leader. He gave conscientious service to the community and dedicated his life to spreading Dr. Lohia and Loknayak JP’s ideas.

On Tuesday at about 3 p.m., Yadav will be cremated in Saifai, his home village in the Etawah district, according to the party. “Netaji’s body is being transported to Saifai. He will be cremated on October 11 at about 3 p.m., according to the Samajwadi Party. Today, Rajnath Singh, the union defence minister, will go to Saifai to participate in the funeral ceremonies.
