Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh’s new movie Doctor G

Ayushmann Khurrana, who portrays a gynaecologist in the movie Doctor G, is back in theatres. As his fellow medical professionals, Shefali Shah and Rakul Preet Singh also appear. The movie made about 3.87 crore when it debuted on Friday. Code Name Tiranga, starring Parineeti Chopra, clashed with it.

The opening weekend numbers for Doctor G are higher than those for his previous movie, Anek, which debuted at 1.77 crore. The initial reception is comparable to Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, his 2021 feature, which had strong opening weekend numbers.

Film trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted about the movie’s earnings and said, “Despite little pre-release anticipation, #DoctorG brings up a respectable total on Day 1… The performance of national chains is superior, but mass pockets are rather uninteresting. has room for development on days two and three… For a solid weekend total, needs that push… 3.87 cr. #India business. on Friday.

A coming-of-age comedy-drama set at a medical institution, Doctor G is a campus comedy. The movie also stars Sheeba Chaddha. She is the mother of Ayushmann. Anubhuti Kashyap is the film’s director, and she co-wrote the script with Sumit Saxena, Saurabh Bharat, and Vishal Wagh.

Many critics gave the movie mixed reviews. The movie’s review in the Hindustan Times stated: “Doctor G might have been a lot better picture. However, when one considers the first half, one realises that it could have been lot worse. In the end, it will appeal to viewers as a mediocre coming-of-age social drama. While trying to provide clean humour, it succeeds to avoid being preachy. However, there are some cringe-worthy moments. The performers, who give a stale screenplay new vitality, are what salvage it. Go watch it, if nothing else, for them!

Before the movie’s release, Shefali Shah remarked in a behind-the-scenes video released on Instagram, “It’s always thrilling. When I was younger, I wanted to be a neurosurgeon or a doctor, but life had other ideas and I wasn’t ready to start studying physics. It’s very great writing, with a delicate, lovely, and engaging theme, and it’s quite amusing, she continued.
